7th European symposium on the culture of memory in Europe<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The seventh symposium on the culture of memory in Europe will be held in the centenary of the end of the First World War. This year’s symposium was entitled: “After the Great War. Challenges for Europe 1918-2018.” <\/p>\n

ENRS<\/a> noted that as citizens of modern Europe, we do not want to be guided by jubilees or celebrations, but we also cannot ignore the landmark year of 1918. as a good opportunity to evaluate the past and look for a better common future in Europe.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Year 1918 and the turbulent years that followed marked the period of the collapse of empires, wars, revolutions and new borders, through the application of the principle of self-determination of peoples, armed conflict or political decisions. They shaped Europe as we know it today. Therefore, it is worth summarizing the latest discoveries of historians about this period and debating the memory of past events. We are aware that the perspective on the past varies from feelings of satisfaction and fulfillment to pain and defeat. Our aim is to discuss this past with a full understanding of different points of view. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The last century does not only make us think about the past. It is an adequate platform for reflection or predictions of the future. In this context, two issues seem particularly important: peacekeeping and national sovereignty.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
